On October 17, 2002 The HistoryMakers hosted its first annual of its Meet The HistoryMakers: A Day of Education at the Wyndham Hotel in Chicago, Illinois.
Meet The HistoryMakers: A Day of Education was conceived as a day of seminars designed to expose public school teachers, librarians and students to the educational resources created by The HistoryMakers.
Attendees experienced first hand accounts from notable HistoryMakers that included former entertainment and civil rights lawyer Leo Branton, former SNCC director James Forman and children's folk singer Ella Jenkins. The day also included oral history workshops and training, computer labs and training on the Becoming a HistoryMaker student curriculum.
